Wife and i got new guns today

My wife and I have both been wanting something smaller and easier to carry on a daily basis, I've been eyeing the Ruger LCP, but they're tough to find in-stock at a local shop. Most owners tell me they sell them as soon as they get them, can't keep them on the shelf.

Well the shop I went to today had 3 on the shelf, We left with two of them!

they had an indoor range at the place we went, we shot for free today since we just bought the guns. I had never shot an LCP or anything that light. It had a LOT more snap then I had expected, I will need to shoot it a lot more to get used to it.

They had plenty of ammo in stock, so I decided to just buckle down and buy a bulk pack. I figure by the time we shoot it up both LCPs will be getting pretty close to be broken in.

We only shot about 3 mags each because we had other things we had to do today. It wasn't as much of a pleasure to shoot as her Glock 17 or my CZ85, but I think we will get used to it.

We also bought a box of self-defense ammo today, but I won't be using it for home defense, just for normal out and about around town carry. I have other guns I'm much more comfortable with right now for home defense.

The following pictures are just for you guys because I love you!

We were out of the store with both LCPs, 250 round bulk pack of FMJ target ammo, and 20 Rounds of Speer Gold-Dot self defense ammo for $800 even.

We have two of the LCPs. Nice enough to shoot for my wife. Trigger guard too small for me. Had a mag issue but Ruger took care of it right away.

Nice guns, saw them today at the Fort Myers gun show, just can't get excited about the 380 though, the 9mm is my favorite, I did see a berreta 380 that was very tempting but prudence prevailed. Good luck with the new rods.

My bullet picture better :tongue_ma:

I kid, I kid. A good deal all around. Its light weight and size will certainly keep you from getting discouraged to carry like some of the beefier guns tend to do (like my 'compact' .45!)

Well I took my LCP apart last night to get ready to clean it (though got distractred and didnt yet!)...oh man is that .380 auto ammo dirty!! I suppose it might be because it is a small gun, so there is just the same dirt in a smaller area, but wow! I know my 9mm gets dirty, but after only 15 rounds I wasn't expecting it to be THAT dirty! Yikes!

I shoot quite a bit of that Remington UMC in 9mm ... It's dirty, but Blazer Brass is dirtier. Federal and WWB is a bit cleaner.

Nice LCP's! I like em'. They are similar to the SR9's noting the obvious exceptions. I've got one of those and I really like it for the money. Rugers are under rated workhorses. Not as nice as some- but very reliable in my experience.

Amen on that

I thought I was shooting Wolf the smell of amonia was so bad

I do stock the stuff when I get the chance as that will be strictly for barter or putting together battlepacks for fellow Patriots

But The Brass stuff is mines .

Wow!! I feel special! Did you see that everybody? TomD said I did good on my photography!!! nah nah boo boo!!

Thanks for the compliment Tom, It really is all in the camera though because I have no idea what I'm doing...other then messing around with the lights to make sure there isn't too much glare!

I used a Canon Rebel XSi with an 18-55mm lens. Background is just our red tablecloth on our kitchen table. I find the red works really well for taking pictures of black "liberty keepers".

Stores have .380 ammo now?
250 rounds.....is that the entire allotment for the county?
That is very cool having two of them. It should make training a lot easier and more consistent.

This store did. They didn't look like they were short on any ammo. They had about 4 boxes of the 250 round packs, plus 10-12 boxes of the home defense stuff, and about 10 - 50 round boxes of Winchester White Box.

I think this particular store caters more to the hunting crowd because they had probably 200 hunting rifles and 2 AR-15s on the shelves. They also had just a small case of handguns, but they looked like they had plenty of ammo.

I gotta disagree with your statement.

It's NOT JUST THE CAMERA. I've spent most of my life as a photographer, including 15 years as a freelance photojournalist. I've worked in a Denver camera shop for almost two years.

If it were just the camera, ANYONE could do it. This is simply NOT the case. My Mom puts her thumb in more pix than anyone I've ever met. Don't ask. I've never figured it out.

Also, wow. $100 for .380 ACP? Early last year I bought a case (1k) of 40 Gold Dot for a little over $220. I KNOW .380 is next to impossible to find, but dang man, that's $400 a case for RANGE AMMO. OUCH.

I dislike Ruger for 'politically incorrect' reasons. But I am a fan of lightweight small semi-auto pistols and the LCP does fit that bill quite well.

Great job. On the purchase, on the pictures, and yeah, don't forget the pistols probably had a little EXTRA lube in them from the factory., which would explain why they snagged so much dirt the first time you shot them. So once you clean them and put the normal amount of lube on them I bet they won't be nearly as dirty the second time around.

Yeah, it was a bit pricey, but it was a gun shop. Their ammo is always pricey! I usually buy my ammo at walmart because I can get everything cheaper there (except .223) then what I can buy it online for! well not ALWAYS but in the quantities I usually buy it in...less then 300 rounds at a time due to budget usually...

They were VERY lubed, I actually wiped off some of the oil at the range because it was running down the frame! I knew I should have cleaned them before we shot them, but I really wanted to try them out..

Thanks for the compliments on the pictures, and I have NO IDEA how you would ever get your THUMB in the frame...aren't your THUMBS on the BACK of the camera when taking pictures? haha. I know you said don't ask, but wow..

Re: Wife and i got new guns today

BC,
It's actually a family joke. If there is something 'blocking' the shot, everyone says "MOM'S THUMB" and we all laugh. INCLUDING MY MOM.

And I've got no idea how you get your thumb in FRONT of the lens. But she does.

Like I said, if it was ALL the camera anyone could be an award winning photographer. That's not the case.
